चंदन धूप बत्ती

Siddhak pure sandalwood (chandan) dhoop sticks are made for those who worship Lord Vishnu, Lakshmi–Narayan and his avatars (Ram, Krishna, Narasimha, Vamana). They combine the sacredness of cow dung (gomaya) with the cooling fragrance of sandalwood.

Chandan is one of the most loved offerings to Lord Vishnu: Vishnu murtis and shaligrams are anointed with chandan tilak, and the Vaishnav tilak (urdhva pundra) is traditionally made with sandalwood. Cow dung is used in yajna, havan and agnihotra as a sacred fuel, and burning it in ritual is traditionally believed to purify the surroundings and invite auspiciousness.

Safety and storage

• Always place a burning dhoop stick in a stable, non-flammable holder on a heat-resistant surface.
• Keep away from children, pets, curtains, paper and other flammable items.

• Never leave burning dhoop unattended.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight, and keep the pack closed to preserve the fragrance.

How to use

• Clean the altar and place the murti or photo of Lord Vishnu / Lakshmi–Narayan / Krishna / Ram, with diya, water, flowers, tulsi leaves and prasad.
• Hold one stick at the bare end and light the coated end with a match or diya flame.
• Let it burn for a few seconds until a small red ember forms, then gently blow out the flame.
• Wave the dhoop in slow clockwise circles before the deity, chanting "Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya", "Om Vishnave Namah" or a short portion of Vishnu Sahasranama.
• Place it in a dhoop stand on a heat-resistant surface and continue with aarti or bhajans.
